Have you tried holding down the power button at boot? While the PS3 is off, press and hold the power button until you get a second beep, then release the button. So when you hit that big file that needs fixing and then stop in the middle of that because it is taking to long for you, you can mess up what the restore was doing to fix it PS3 - Recovery mode / Restore file system does not work You really needed to wait up to a few hours or more before deciding the ps3 had really frozen up. Selecting this option will delete all data and settings from the hard drive, as it will reformat all data and restore the hard drive to its factory default settings Until the ps3 fixes that the percent won't go up. PS3's store a portion of their operating system on the hard drive and the fact that the problem got worse to the point where it wouldn't boot up suggests this Factory Resetting Your PS3 The Restore PS3 System option is the Safe Mode menu's factory reset option. If you are met with errors here, the hard drive may have failed/is failing. First, try putting the console in recovery mode and running the Restore File System option. When I turn on my PS3 I get a message saying the file system on the system storage is corrupted and will be restored.I then press x on the controller,a screen appears saying that it is restoring,it gets to 43% stops for a while, moves to 48% stops again then proceeds to 100%.The message says that after this operation is completed the system will restart, however after 100% the screen goes black. You'll have to do this from the console itself, as your controllers are likely frozen as well.

If your PS3 is frozen, you can perform a manual reset. Press and hold the Power button on the PS3. What do you mean connect both? I only have the hdmi cable and i cant do anything with the black screen only restart the ps3 If you are in HDMI on the PS3 after you ask it to restore it probably goes back to Composite Video so connect both HDMI and Composite and then try again.
